A Tragedy and a Testimony

The Tradegy:
About 11:30 pm Wednesday, July 30th a tragedy struck some friends of ours. Their home caught on fire. They lived in a double wide mobile home, and many of you know the rooms are usually one different ends of the house. Luckily, the son (age 8 or so) woke to the sound of the smoke alarm. He got up, went to his parents room and told his dad the smoke alarm was going off. The parents looked out the back doors to see a smoldering looking fire. The dad went to try to put it out and he noticed it was getting worse. By this time, the wife and child were out of the home and had what they could grab. Luckily, by the Grace of God, everyone got out safely {except the dog}. No one was harmed! Praise GOD!

The Testimony:
This family has a very strong faith in Christ Jesus. They had visitor after visitor from their church while we were there. The love was strong and present. They are so sad at what they've lost and yet so thankful for what they have. If you can do anything to help them ANYTHING, they would be grateful. If you can't do anything but pray for them, they will appreciate that just as much! Thank you all for what you've done already!

Following you will see a series of photographs that I took while at the home tonight (July 31st).

This was their family Bible that they kept in the hope chest. The edges were burned but a lot of it was still legible.

This was microwave and stove.

This is where the fire began. They are not sure if it was the wiring or what...
melted siding

The living room. There was a fireplace just to the left.

Raymond telling Chad all about what happened, through tears!
Looking into the den from the back of the house

This was the kitchen. Pop Tarts and Graham Crackers and such.
If I had to guess, this was under the sink.
The front of the house. This is the den.
The master bedroom. The firemen put some tarp over their bedroom furniture to salvage what they could. They haven't been in yet to see what's OK and what's not.
This is the back of the house. (I went around a couple of times)
Looking into the child's room.
Chad and Raymond, they are smiling because they have more to smile about than to cry about.
The front of the house.

the "game" chair
The quilt rack that had quilts her mother made them.
The TV and things
The left door is the master bedroom. You are also looking at the gun rack.

I promise I'll be back!

I have been slacking plus my kids haven't really given me anything to right about. You'd think them of all people would be the ones! I promise I'll get back into it when school and sports start back up! DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME!!

Please don't ask me why I took the one of the Diet Coke can, I was just taking a pic of something REALLY close! Hence the title of the blog!

I LOVE these of the kids.
This one turned out SO cool. My lens was fogged. I'm glad!!
